Escaping to Flagstaff is our thing. Whenever we have a free day or nothing planned it is not uncommon to pack the kids in the car super early. I mean, super early. Like 3:30 AM – 4:00 AM. We like to get up there with no traffic and let the kids still sleep. I feel like we have been going, going, going lately I wanted a day to just relax and hangout with the leaves.
The trail was very busy – a ton of families and dogs enjoying the crisp fall weather. The hike was a 2 mile loop. We didn’t finish it because the boys were getting really tired and had to carry them out while they fell asleep in our arms. #momlife
It was beautiful though. Very shaded and nice tall Aspen Tree all over. If you are looking for an easy – beginner hike I highly recommend this one. It was a little muddy to the rain and snow we have been getting however, perfect for the kids to run around and play in.
Does anyone struggle with keeping your toddler motivated on the trails?
Our trick is to find something to work towards. For instance if we see a large tree log we can run up to our a person coming with a dog. We find small motivators to keep them going because they get bored very easily. Making small games and talking is some of my favorite bonding time with my boys.
